Since transporting transformers above a certain power level is not feasible due to safety and cost considerations, the equipment is disassembled on-site before transport; radiators and panels, however, are shipped assembled. Analysis during operation reveals that the transformer oil, which becomes damp over time, needs to be dried and restored to appropriate values.

On-site service applications offer operational advantages for small transformers, but are a technical necessity for large, high-power transformers.
